The World Civilizations Initiative Research Center organized an international conference on Global Security and NATO on June 26-27, 2026, in Istanbul, Türkiye, ahead of the NATO summit scheduled for 7 and 8th of July in Ankara. Dr. Doğu Perinçek, Chairman of the Vatan Party, held a speech here. UWI presents below his speech.
NATO’s Funeral Ceremony Is Being Held in Ankara

Distinguished Guests from the Seven Continents of Our World,
Distinguished Leaders of Political Parties, Trade Unions, and Mass Organizations,
Dear Friends,
I greet you with love and respect on behalf of the Vatan Party.
On July 7-8, 2026, the NATO Summit will convene in Ankara. That NATO summit will be NATO’s funeral ceremony.
There is not a single piece of wood in Türkiye to make NATO’s coffin!
There is not a single patch of land to be polluted by NATO’s corpse!
There is not a single stone that would agree to be placed on NATO’s grave!
Most importantly, there is not a single person who would carry NATO’s coffin on their shoulder!
Under these circumstances, our advice to NATO’s bosses is this: Take the corpse of your NATO, tie a stone to its foot or tie a rusty piece of iron to it, and throw it into the Atlantic Ocean. We do not accept the pollution of Turkish soil with NATO’s corpse.
We congratulate AK Party diplomacy, which has undertaken the organization of NATO’s Funeral Ceremony. They are showing an unrivaled performance in contributing to the profession of washing the dead. This performance has no place in Turkish history, but they have written their names in golden letters in NATO’s history, which has fallen into the garbage dump.
The calculations put on the market concerning the post-NATO period, or rather the hopes and fantasies, are a trap for Türkiye. The only future to be shared with NATO is decay and destruction. To share a common destiny with NATO is to remain under a collapsing roof. Only corpse washers and undertakers can profit from NATO’s corpse.
Trump’s praises do not bring prestige to anyone.
No force in Türkiye can any longer preserve its power or march to power by joining hands with Trump and NATO. Projects for power with the United States are now a thing of the past.
The U.S. Organization for Managing Its Allies
Mr. Chairman, Dear Friends,
The best definition of NATO was made by General de Gaulle in 1963. France’s Second World War hero explained NATO to the French nation as follows:
“NATO has succeeded in weakening our spirit of defense; without that spirit there can be no defense. It anesthetizes our desire for national independence. It emasculates us.”
“NATO is a sham. It is a mechanism created to conceal America’s domination over Europe. Thanks to NATO, Europe has been made dependent on the United States.”
This is the reality of NATO. NATO is, so to speak, the rein by which the United States herds the NATO countries. We see this reality in its most striking examples in Türkiye’s experiences.
Türkiye’s Testimony on NATO
Among NATO members, we cannot find a country with a record as rich as Türkiye’s. The operation carried out against our non-Muslim citizens in Istanbul on September 6-7, 1955, and the coups extending from 1971 to 2016, are all the deeds of NATO’s underground organization.
On September 6-7, 1955, in a Gladio operation, the workplaces of our Greek, Armenian, and Jewish citizens living in Istanbul were looted and destructive actions took place. The aim of the operation was to drive a wedge between Türkiye and Greece and to prevent Turks and Greeks in Cyprus from uniting and partitioning Cyprus. Sabri Yirmibeşoğlu, who was involved at the time in the NATO-linked underground organization and later rose to the rank of full general, stated that the September 6-7 incidents were “a magnificent organization” carried out by the NATO-linked Special Warfare Department.
NATO’s brilliant record continues as follows: before the NATO coups of 1971 and 1980, the youth were made to slaughter one another. On May 1, 1977, 34 of our citizens were massacred in Istanbul. Before 1980, massacres were engineered in Kahramanmaraş, Erzincan, and Çorum by provoking Sunni-Alevi contradictions. In 1994, in Sivas Madımak and Erzincan Başbağlar, our Alevi and Sunni citizens were martyred by being burned and shot. In the plan to liquidate the Kemalist Revolution, thousands of our young people were killed. Hundreds of our distinguished intellectuals, from Uğur Mumcu to General Eşref Bitlis, were martyred in NATO assassinations. During the 1971 period, 1,500 patriotic officers, and during the 1980 period, 2,000 patriotic officers were expelled from the Turkish Armed Forces and military academies. In the 1980 coup, 600,000 of our citizens were detained or arrested. Trade unions were closed and political parties were dissolved. From the Vatan Party alone, 1,500 executives and members were imprisoned.
In the Ergenekon, Sledgehammer, and similar operations of the U.S.-directed FETÖ Gladio after 2007, thousands of officers and the leadership cadres of the Vatan Party were imprisoned. The aim of the United States was to prevent Türkiye from taking position in Asia, to divide Türkiye, and to establish a Second Israel under the name of “Kurdistan.” They failed!
Türkiye’s Crushing of Gladio and Breaking of the NATO Chains
Mr. Chairman, Dear Friends,
After we demolished the Silivri Walls under the leadership of the Vatan Party in the spring of 2014, and then crushed the NATO/FETÖ coup on July 15-16, 2016 through Army-Nation cooperation, Türkiye entered a new process. For 12 years, Türkiye has been clearing out the FETÖ Gladio, NATO’s underground organization, and breaking the U.S./NATO chain.
From a strategic perspective, Türkiye has entered the period of bringing its National Democratic Revolution, which began in the mid-19th century, to final victory. Türkiye is settling into the leading positions of the Rising Asian Civilization.
This process began with the popular movement that demolished the Silivri Wall, Türkiye’s Bastille Prison. The Vatan Party organization led the mobilization of the masses of the people and the siege of the Silivri walls three times. The people mobilized from all corners of Türkiye overcame blocked roads, faced tyranny, and demolished barricades. Nearly one hundred thousand people participated in each of the sieges in 2013. As a result of those struggles, in the spring of 2014, on March 14, we demolished the Silivri Wall and liberated both ourselves and the Turkish Armed Forces from prison. Thus Türkiye began to free itself from NATO.
The U.S. response came immediately. On July 15-16, 2016, it plotted a coup. One could say that on that night, a Türkiye-America war took place in Ankara and Istanbul. There were intense clashes at the General Staff, the Gendarmerie General Command, the Special Forces Command, the General Directorate of Security, TRT, in squares and on roads. Within the Turkish Armed Forces, those loyal to the homeland, Mustafa Kemal’s soldiers, acted upon the calls made by the Vatan Party on television. The National Forces within the Turkish Armed Forces and the Police crushed Gladio, killed some of them, and threw the rest into prisons.
Thus began the process of breaking the NATO chain of the Turkish state. Just 40 days after July 15-16, 2016, the Turkish Armed Forces launched operations beyond our southern borders with Operation Euphrates Shield. The Turkish Army dealt heavy blows to terrorist organizations such as the PKK and Daesh, which survive with U.S. support. This was followed by Operation Olive Branch and Operation Peace Spring.
The Process of Cleansing the Turkish State of NATO
Since 2014, we have been purging ourselves of NATO. According to the official statements of the Ministry of National Defense in 2025, nearly 200 generals and 24,000 officers connected to NATO and FETÖ were expelled from the Turkish Armed Forces. Thirty thousand police officers were purged from the Security Organization, and 14,000 judges and prosecutors from the judiciary. In total, 144,000 public officials were cleansed from the state.
As a continuation of this process, most recently the leadership of the main opposition party, the CHP, is also being cleansed of NATO and FETÖ. Those who bought management positions in the CHP with money were identified by the decision of the Turkish Judiciary, and a major blow was dealt to the Atlantic Project. The İmamoğlu and Özgür Özel team at the top of the CHP declare through Western sources such as Newsweek, Foreign Affairs, the BBC, and Reuters that they are conducting politics for NATO’s security and America’s security.
The famous institution of the U.S. Deep State, the RAND Corporation, published a report in January 2020 titled “The Course of Nationalism in Türkiye.” In that 260-page plan, they claim, openly naming him, that they would bring Ekrem İmamoğlu to the top of Türkiye. This power plan of the U.S. Deep State has been routed.
The process that the AK Party government calls “Terror-Free Türkiye,” and that we call Integrated Türkiye, is also within the scope of liberation from the NATO chain.
The Agenda of Settling Accounts with the Atlantic System
The threat directed at Türkiye today comes from the Armed Alliance formed by the United States, Israel, Greece, and the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus. We look at the Eastern Mediterranean and see these countries’ Noble Dina and Nemesis naval exercises. The barrels are pointed at Türkiye! After the Greek coasts, the United States is also establishing military bases in the Aegean. In May 2025, NATO conducted an exercise in Alexandroupoli to cross the Meriç River. Once they cross the Meriç River, they supposedly enter Turkish territory!
Let us look to our north: just in early June, Ukraine struck a Turkish fishing vessel and a Turkish tanker in the Black Sea. Why can the Turkish government not raise its voice? Our esteemed President Tayyip Erdoğan used to say “One minute, one minute.” Why can he not say “one minute” in the Black Sea?
The National Government of Producers that will be established in Türkiye within the next few years will send those who strike a Turkish vessel to the bottom of the sea. Let no one have any doubt!
The current picture reflects the panic of the Atlantic forces. Because Türkiye is leaving the Atlantic system. The cleansing of NATO within Türkiye is opening the roads to the leading position of the Rising Asian Civilization. How will the United States prevent this?
In the coups of the previous period, the United States used NATO forces inside Türkiye. It had its Gladio inside; it had armed power within the Turkish army and Turkish police. They were crushed.
Now the threat is not from within but from outside. It has lost its armed forces inside, but now it has armed forces targeting Türkiye from the outside, it has bases, and it has allies, above all Israel and Greece. France is also at their side. Moreover, India’s leader comes from thousands of kilometers away and meets with Israeli officials. Energy routes and armed alliance projects extending to Europe via India-Israel-Southern Cyprus-Greece are being voiced. This plan targets not only Türkiye but also the Belt and Road Initiative of the People’s Republic of China, Russia, and Iran.
Against the U.S.-Israel-centered threat, Türkiye will of course resist first and foremost with its own forces. However, there is an imbalance in the challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean. The U.S.-Israel threat possesses nuclear weapons in addition to a powerful navy and air force. Türkiye, just like Iran, needs allies that have nuclear weapons. The United States and Israel could not use nuclear weapons against Iran, because the People’s Republic of China and Russia said, “If you use nuclear weapons, you will receive the same response.”
Armed Rebellion Against NATO
Türkiye’s reckoning with the Atlantic system is an agenda in which weapons speak. NATO has always used weapons. Moreover, NATO has openly resorted to violence by unleashing the PKK and FETÖ upon Türkiye. Türkiye’s liberation from NATO has also brought onto the agenda the use of force against tyranny. The Republic of Türkiye’s struggle against terrorism is in fact an armed struggle against the armed forces of the United States. The July 15-16, 2016 coup could only be suppressed by arms, and it was suppressed by arms.
Türkiye is, one might say, the only country that has resorted to arms in the struggle against NATO. For this reason, it would not be an exaggeration to say that Türkiye has started a rebellion against NATO. Türkiye is the country that has rebelled against NATO with arms. There are, of course, reasons for this.
First, Türkiye is the only country of the South in NATO, which is a club of rich countries.
Second, Türkiye is the only Asian in the NATO of Atlantic countries.
Third, Türkiye is the only Islamic country in NATO, which is a Christian club.
Türkiye’s position against NATO is the position of the Developing World, the position of Asia, and the position of Humanity. In this respect, Türkiye’s confrontation within NATO is connected to the East-West and South-North alignments on a world scale.
For Türkiye, within the NATO system there can be neither independence, nor sovereignty, nor security, nor a Production Economy. Therefore, Türkiye must strategically leave NATO and break its chains.
Türkiye is on the threshold of a historic decision. Now is the time to establish the government of this program. Indeed, the forces of the National Government of Producers have begun to appear on the stage of history. Alongside the rising workers’ movement, the rising demands and mobilizations of other popular classes herald the near future.
The Force That Will Deter the Atlantic Threat: The Türkiye-Russia-China-Iran (TRCI) Alliance
The only solution is the Türkiye-Russia-China-Iran Alliance. The alliance that the Vatan Party has defended for many years has now settled onto Türkiye’s agenda. The MHP also advocates the TRÇİ Alliance. Thus Türkiye, while meeting the threat directed at it with its own forces, has also begun to take steps toward making use of its accumulated allied strength.
An alliance with Russia, Iran, and China is not only a security program for Türkiye, but also a requirement of the economic breakthrough before Türkiye. Our energy security lies with our eastern neighbors, especially Russia and Iran, as well as Azerbaijan and Iraq. Together with the People’s Republic of China, we can make Türkiye a production base. Türkiye’s first and second foreign trade partners have for many years been Russia and the People’s Republic of China. This means that the Turkish economy lives and develops in the Asian climate.
The Alliance That Determines the Fate of Humanity
The Türkiye-Russia-China-Iran Alliance is necessary and inevitable for all four countries. Its latent power lies here.
This Alliance is the only solution that will prevent war not only for the components of the alliance, but also for humanity. Today, the force that will deter the U.S.-Israel-centered threat in the Eastern Mediterranean, which is at the center of the danger of a great war, is the Türkiye-Russia-China-Iran Alliance. Indeed, Iran won victory in the war against U.S. imperialism and Israeli Zionism by cooperating with Russia and China. The Russia-China-Iran Alliance was tested in the recent war and opened the horizon of the world. Türkiye’s participation in this alliance is inevitable.
NATO’s Disintegration and Collapse
Disintegration and collapse within NATO are inevitable.
The Dollar Reign of the United States, the boss and main pillar of the system, has collapsed.
The United States and Western Europe are being dragged into an economic, social, and political crisis and turmoil unprecedented in their history. Western Europe is in a rush to keep its economy afloat through a war economy by inventing Russian threats. The financial burden will be placed on the people’s backs by instilling fear of Russia.
Against the armed power of the United States, significant armed forces such as Russia, China, Iran, and Türkiye have emerged.
The contradictions between the United States and the other imperialist-capitalist countries within NATO have intensified and reached dimensions that call the NATO system into question.
The United States has come into positions of enmity with its allies within NATO. Türkiye is the clearest example of this. The fact that the United States has formed an alliance against Türkiye in the Eastern Mediterranean shows that NATO is disintegrating.
Most importantly, in its war against Iran, it is an indisputable fact that the United States is in the state of “the monster with only one tooth left.”
No force can any longer unite NATO or prevent NATO’s disintegration and collapse.
The Summit in Ankara will be NATO’s funeral ceremony.
