One of the most prominent organizations in recent times, especially on social media, is the American Communist Party. The founding of the party was announced on July 21, 2024. Among its founders are Haz Al-Din, Jackson Hinkle, Rev Laskaris, who have received millions of interactions on social media. Haz Al-Din, the Executive Chairman of the party, answered UWI’s questions. Al-Din argued that the US system needs to change and said that contradictions about this will grow in the country in the future.
‘People are no longer surprised’
There is a rising tide against neoliberalism within the US. We asked Al-Din whether this is because anti-liberalism is becoming more accepted in society.
Al-Din’s response was as follows: “Communism in particular is not becoming more acceptable ideologically, rather, the conventional ways of making sense of reality are becoming obsolete and degraded. People are simply not shocked by anything anymore. Nothing is too bizarre, too surreal politically now. We Communists have work to do, to introduce Communist ideas to the American public.”
‘Multilateral system must be built’
Al-Din summarized the current problem as follows: “The problem is what Michael Hudson calls Super-Imperialism, a system in which the United States acts as both creditor and debtor in the global economic system.”
Noting the internal contradictions in the US, the ACP Executive Chairman said that a conflict of interest has emerged between the need to maintain or revitalize the competitiveness of US industry and the responsibilities that come with maintaining this global system. “In our party’s view, the global system must be dismantled and completely rebuilt on a multilateral basis,” Al-Din said, adding, “This includes redenomination of our national currency and a complete cancelation of debts. In sum, our position is revolutionary with respect to the global American system. It must be totally toppled. And a new system must be built in its stead.”
‘The president is not important in the U.S.’
We also asked Al-Din about the new US President-elect Donald Trump. We asked the ACP Executive Chairman whether there is a systemic change in the US with Trump and whether they have any expectations about Trump. “We don’t have any great expectations about Trump,” Al-Din replied, “We anticipate he will fail in salvaging the system, so our goal is to prepare for the inevitable systemic and constitutional crisis that is to come, by building forms of authority and organization from bellow that will weather the storm. That said, we are pragmatic, and willing to pursue all available avenues to ensure the success of our Party.”
Al-Din said that his party has no official position on the predictions, adding, “My personal view is that I don’t think the president matters in America. There is an agenda, and this agenda will be followed no matter what. Biden was senile for 4 years and the system continued to work. So, it is clear that the president is not decisive. We will see what will happen in the future.”
‘We are in favor of the destruction of NATO’
As an institution in the US, the ACP’s opposition to NATO and support for the Axis of Resistance are particularly noteworthy. Their support for Russia in the war in Ukraine is also well known. Al-Din expressed hope that NATO might have contradictions after the war in Ukraine, “I hope there will be contradictions. We are in favor of the complete destruction of NATO.”
Al-Din also said the following about the Axis of Resistance: “They have our full sympathy and sincerest hopes. They inspire us.”
‘There is no security in being a subject of the U.S.’
Al-Din also expressed his views on Türkiye. “My message to the Turkish people is this: Türkiye is historically a great power and a regional civilization. There is no safety, security and dignity in being a subject of the American Empire. There is no pragmatism in this.” Emphasizing that Türkiye is capable of creating a new regional pole with its neighbors without the United States, Al-Din said: “The purpose of the American Empire is the subjugation, enslavement, and destruction of people’s. It can do so quickly, as in Libya and Iraq, or slowly, through economic warfare or cultural subversion. Full obedience to the ruling financial capitalist class, or sovereign, national development. This is the choice for all nations today. Türkiye does not need to emulate America or the West. For centuries, Türkiye was the envy of the entire European world. It surpassed it in terms of culture, technology, science and economy. The West, out of its arrogance, will never accept Türkiye. There is great national humiliation in trying to resist this fact.”
