“Palestine has become global conscience for millions”

Speech of Ghazi Abdulal, Representative of the Youth Wing of The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine on the WAYU congress in Istanbul, Türkiye

By Ghazi Abdulal – Representative of the Youth Wing of The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – PFLP

May 19th, 1919, is the date Mustafa Kemal Atatürk arrived in the northern Turkish city of Samsun to start the armed struggle against the imperialist occupation of Türkiye and its collaborators. The date is considered as the beginning of the war of liberation. It is today celebrated as an official holiday as the “Day of Commemorating Atatürk, the youth and sports”.

The Youth Union of Türkiye (TGB) and the World Anti-imperialist Youth Union (WAYU) have organized on May 19, 2026, an international event with participation from dozens of countries of anti-imperialist struggle. During the convention, several speeches were held.

One of the speeches was from Ghazi Abdulal, the representative of Palestinian Youth Organization (The Youth Wing of The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – PFLP).

Below, we present the speech to our readers.

Comrades,

First of all, let us observe a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs in Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, Yemen, Iraq, Venezuela, and Cuba.

On behalf of the Palestinian Youth Organization, the youth wing of PFLP, we would like to thank our comrades who organized this revolutionary anti-imperialist youth conference.

We gather today at a historic moment in which struggles against imperialism, domination, and occupation continue to intensify across the world. At the same time, young people and students are raising their voices everywhere in defense of freedom, justice, and human dignity.

Ghazi Abdulal speaking on the WAYU congress in Istanbul, Türkiye

We have seen what the head of the snake has done in Venezuela and Cuba, and today in Iran. This confirms the extent of the racism and danger of this imperialist colonialism in suppressing freedoms and plundering the wealth of peoples.

At the heart of these struggles stands the Palestinian people’s ongoing resistance as one of the clearest symbols of determination in the face of occupation, oppression, and colonial violence.

Palestinian youth and students have played a central role in this struggle, not only through their daily resilience, but also through their efforts to build global awareness around liberation, solidarity, and the right of peoples to self-determination. From universities to public squares, voices continue to rise against war, occupation, and injustice, affirming that international solidarity remains a powerful force in confronting oppression wherever it exists.

The discussion of Palestine cannot be separated from the broader global anti-imperialist struggle and the wider movements resisting exploitation, militarism, and colonial domination. The Palestinian cause has become not only the cause of one people, but also a matter of global conscience for millions who believe in freedom, equality, and human rights.

In closing, our responsibility today extends beyond observation or symbolic solidarity. It requires us to continue raising our voices in defense of justice and human dignity, and to strengthen awareness and solidarity with peoples everywhere who continue to struggle for liberation and self-determination.

Gaza is the graveyard of invaders.

Gaza strikes and resists the occupier every minute.

Gaza is massacred every day, yet it stands firm against the storm.

And finally, freedom for Palestine and for the Axis of Resistance.

Freedom for the free people of the world.

Thank you.
