“Iran fights not only for its own people”: 8 purposes of Iran’s resilience

Speech of Aliakbar Taheri - Representative of Coalition for Resistance Organization, on the WAYU congress in Istanbul

By Aliakbar Taheri – Representative of Coalition for Resistance Organization

May 19th, 1919 is the date Mustafa Kemal Atatürk arrived in the northern Turkish city of Samsun to start the armed struggle against the imperialist occupation of Türkiye and its collaborators. The date is considered as the beginning of the war of liberation. It is today celebrated as an official holiday as the “Day of Commemorating Atatürk, the youth and sports”.

The Youth Union of Türkiye (TGB) and the World Anti-imperialist Youth Union (WAYU) have organized on May 19, 2026, an international event with participation from dozens of countries of anti-imperialist struggle. During the convention, several speeches were held.

One of the speeches was from Aliakbar Taheri, Representative of Coalition for Resistance Organization. Below, we present the speech to our readers.

Today, imperialism no longer hides behind lies like democracy and benevolence, nor are wars launched under the pretext of fighting terrorism. Today, we are facing the most blatant, most reckless, and most brutal form of imperialism. The bullies of Epstein Island, who committed genocide against children in Gaza, destroyed cities in Lebanon, and bombed schools in Iran.

The Epstein coalition, seeking global dominance, has no choice but to impose its will on independent nations. This is the greatest dictatorship in history, where the right to self-determination of millions in our region and across the world is stripped from the people and decided in the White House! Therefore, the enmity of imperialism is not primarily with systems, governments, or nations, but with the very principle of independence and sovereignty of peoples. And this greed of imperialism will never end. If one case is closed, a new one will be opened. If the will of one nation is broken, the will of others will be targeted. Sanctions, the assassination of leaders, economic blockades, naval blockades, the bombing of scientific centers, hospitals, and energy infrastructure and roads—all are carried out to suppress a nation’s independence and idealism, to break their pride, and to erase from their minds the dream of sovereignty and progress.

Today, Iran fights not only for its own people but for the preservation of humanity and the defense of the front of truth across the world. For:

1. Preventing the gradual erasure of the cause of Jerusalem and the terror and annihilation of the Palestinian people.

2. Preventing the “normalization” of relations with criminals.

3. For the tears of the children of southern Lebanon.

4. For years of blockade and crimes in Yemen.

5. Preventing the breaking of a nation’s pride and independence, as happened in Venezuela.

6. Preventing the re-occupation of countries like Iraq and Afghanistan.

7. Preventing the blockade of Cuba.

8. And preventing crimes worldwide, such as in Sudan.

Since Iran’s leader was assassinated, the Iranian people have come to the streets every night for nearly 80 nights, tirelessly and by the millions across Iran, to declare their support for the above causes and to transform the jungle world into a multipolar world.

Today, the Strait of Hormuz symbolizes the will of the world’s oppressed nations to refuse submission to the so-called invincible superpowers. If an enemy draws a sword to cut off our lifeline, we too will tighten our grip on their jugular to see whether the will of a 7,000-year-old nation will break sooner, or the corrupt, narcissistic, pedophilic, capricious man! Today, the world’s independent nations have found a weapon far more powerful than the atomic bomb: the will to take the life of the powerful by using their geopolitical assets. The straits have proven to be graveyards for imperialism. From the battle of the Bosporus against English colonialism to today in the Strait of Hormuz! And the new order of the straits is a new world order based on national independence and in opposition to the law of the jungle! Had the fuel and essential goods supply line of the Israeli regime been cut sooner, or at least pressured for humanitarian interventions, fewer children would have been martyred in Gaza today! Of course, it is not too late today. As long as Israel is assured of fuel and supplies, and as long as US bases remain in the region, endless wars will continue, and their fire will engulf all nations.

Today, the legitimate president of Venezuela is imprisoned in a show trial—not in his country but in America. A few days ago, an anti-imperialist resistance commander from Iraq was arrested in Türkiye and transferred to the US Yemen has been under siege for years, and the Caravan of Steadfastness, which only seeks to send a small amount of food and medicine to Gaza, has been seized for the umpteenth time. Meanwhile, the absent-minded old man in the White House admitted to being a pirate. We demand effective action against this level of barbarism. Maduro and other fighters must be freed. The blockades on Iran, Yemen, and Gaza must be lifted. If the defeat of imperialism is necessary for the defense of our own existence, all fronts must be treated equally. After the arrest of Venezuela’s president, the delusion of conquering Iran in three days emerged among the delusional in the White House. If any part of this front fails, the enemy will advance.

We are profoundly grateful for the actions of the government and people of brotherly Türkiye in supporting Iran and standing on the right side of history, especially our brothers in the Homeland Party (Vatan Partisi), who have taken many steps. The stances of our Turkish sisters and brothers are a source of strength, encouragement, and proof of the deep-rootedness of our two nations in the face of colonialists.
