The international conference entitled “The Alliance to Prevent a Great War,” organized by the World Civilizations Initiative Research Center, was held at the Meyra Palace Hotel in Ankara on 18–19 July 2026.
UWI will present the speeches held on the conference during the coming days.
The conference, which featured presentations by speakers from Azerbaijan, Belarus, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Italy, Japan, Russia, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Türkiye, the United Kingdom, and the United States, was attended by approximately 200 distinguished invited guests.
Ministers, members of parliament, ambassadors, retired generals, scholars, politicians, diplomats, military officers, and experts examined the question of the “Alliance to Prevent a Great War” from a wide range of perspectives.
Below, we present the speech of Ethem Sancak. The title was set by UWI.
I am the Deputy Chairman of the Vatan Party. I am the deputy to Mr. Doğu Perinçek. But I wear another hat as well. I am one of the founders and a member of the board of directors of Dünya Mer. I assume that is why they organized this and asked me to appear before you today. To be honest, I was not particularly prepared. It was not on my agenda. However, when instructions arrived directly from two presidents, as a disciplined party member, I could not act contrary to directives, so I presented myself before you. Forgive me if I commit any slips of the tongue.
I would like to present to you two ideas that I gathered from this Dünya Mer meeting, as far as I have grasped them.
The first is NATO. Our Chairman actually mentioned this in the previous meeting. In reality, NATO is a finished organization whose funeral we will soon be attending. As our esteemed speakers have also tried to explain to us in various ways, NATO is a futile organization whose time has passed, whose lifespan is exhausted. It is an aggressive organization constructed by American hegemonism and imperialism to enslave nations. It has no other history. Describing it in terms of defense, security, this, or that would deceive both humanity and ourselves.
Furthermore, the capitalist-imperialist system, along with its armed power, has completed its 400-year lifespan. It, too, is about to be thrown into the dustbin of history. As you know, capitalism originally entered humanity’s agenda as a revolutionary social system. It set forth its main strategy through three words that captured humanity’s attention: equality, fraternity, liberty—the three famous slogans voiced during the French Revolution. It truly served humanity for a few centuries. It paved the way for social and scientific developments, raised great revolutionaries, and sought to demolish all the primitive and animalistic behaviors of humanity rooted in feudalism and slavery. It attempted to make humans truly human. For a period, it succeeded; but now, in my view, it tramples upon all those values and has exhausted its own lifespan. Therefore, we should prepare to hold the funeral prayers for two corpses: NATO and the capitalist system.
Humanity faces these two duties. Naturally, executing these tasks is not easy. There was a trait that Americans attributed to a famous American president; they used to say he could not walk and chew gum at the same time, that he would stop with every chew and then walk again. We must not fall into such a lack of foresight. We must chew gum and walk at the same time, because we have two tasks before us: to construct a new social system to replace this exhausted and decayed social system, and to perfect it. There are countries, societies, and peoples attempting to do this. We must gather and unite them to construct a future before humanity—a construction of a future that requires a long-term and very difficult effort. Because humanity now faces problems vastly different from those of the past 5,000 years of civilization history.
For instance, we have consumed this world. As scientists state, this world has become incapable of sustaining a human population beyond 10 billion. Our needs, our behaviors, and the systems we implement have exhausted the world’s resources. And now, given the level of society and science humanity has reached, we are obligated to conquer space and the cosmos. We are forced to leave this world. If we do not reach the state where we can leave it, we will perish along with the Earth. The human species will be erased. In belief systems, it is said that there are 26,000 realms in space. The star system we belong to—the smallest among such systems—has 20,000 suns, and around each sun, there are dozens of planets. They are waiting for us. We need to go there. And in order to go there, we must tame light.
Can we do this? Well, humanity has accomplished many wonderful things in the past. We domesticated the horse, we domesticated wheat, and we invented the steam engine. Now, through artificial intelligence, we are trying to create artificial humans. Humanity has reached this level. It will certainly tame light as well and conquer space at a speed of 300,000 kilometers per second. These duties lie ahead of us. This is merely one of the smaller tasks presented by the new social order and system; there are far greater tasks ahead. We must strive for this.
However, there is a greater, more immediate danger. When we look at history and draw lessons, every collapsing civilization does not withdraw into its shell in peace; it instigates war. Looking across 5,000 years of civilization history, not a single collapsing civilization went down peacefully. They inevitably harmed their surroundings and culminated in war. Right now, a serious and major danger of war stands before us. In our session, we are discussing how to prevent a great war.
Well, if the American people come to their senses and throw off these leaders—these riders who are ruining them—perhaps war can be prevented. As our Chairman stated in his speech, revolution prevents war. But we cannot simply wait for the American people to awaken and collapse this system; we cannot abandon them by saying, “Let the Americans solve this problem.”
This system has led to massive tragedies in their country as well. Right now, there are over 300,000 homeless Americans wandering the streets of New York. The total wealth of the 100 richest Americans equals the wealth of 70% of the total American population. It is such an unjust system. They mention that the famous owner of Tesla has a wealth of 1 trillion dollars—a fortune larger than entire states. They built such an unjust order, and American society is actually in distress, suffering from these hardships as well.
And look at the state into which the European peoples, who built civilizations, have fallen within the European Union. Four bureaucrats make decisions on their behalf. European citizens are nowhere to be found in the picture; they carry no weight. This, too, must change.
However, as Asians, we cannot simply wait for the European and American peoples to awaken and overthrow their own systems. Because out of 5,000 years of civilization, we Asians created 4,000 years of it. Their background in civilization does not even span 500 years. It began with the adventure of an explorer in the 1500s who did not know where he was going—the discovery and plundering of South America—bringing this order to where it is today. They have a 500-year history.
We, on the other hand, as our Chairman and speakers have noted, represent the four great powers of Eurasia that created 4,500 years of civilization history: Iran, China, the Turks, and the Russians. These are the great powers of Eurasia. If they come together, they can stop this fierce aggression—these wild potential attacks by NATO—and while stopping it, they can pool their resources to construct a new, humane social system.
As Dünya Mer, we will be in pursuit of this goal. We ask our valuable participants and attendees who have gathered from all four corners of the world to support Dünya Mer. Dünya Mer will set out with the effort to build the future of humanity and strive to be an organization that builds civilizations. We will concern ourselves with the problems of humanity.
We have embarked on a journey together. Naturally, our job is not easy. I am a young man from Siirt. I learned Turkish later in life. In the first year of middle school, we had Turkish grammar classes where teachers taught us where to place punctuation marks. Our Turkish teacher gave us an exam, provided a text, and asked us to insert the punctuation marks. We had a friend named Kerem who had failed to learn it, so he wrote the following answer at the bottom of the paper: he placed all the punctuation marks side by side and wrote underneath, “Forward march, everyone to your own place now!”
Now, in constructing these new gatherings, we must collectively put every required element into its proper place. We must make an effort for this. With these feelings, I express my gratitude on behalf of my organization to both the speakers and to all of you for your two days of effort and sacrifice. I salute you with respect.
