The Turkish parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee approved a bill, by which Türkiye gives green light to Sweden’s adhesion to NATO. As a next step, the bill will be presented to the parliament’s general assembly, which will hold the final vote on the issue.
The Vatan Party made a public declaration on the matter, criticizing the decision and demanding a referendum on the matter. Below we publish the declaration of the party.
Open call for a referendum on NATO
Vatan (Patriotic) Party Chairman Dr. Doğu Perinçek held a press conference with Party’s Central Committee in their Istanbul headquarters on 27th of December 2023, Wednesday. Perinçek declared that Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA) Foreign Affairs Committee resolution with a majority of votes were against “the will of Turkish people” and he announced Vatan Party Central Committee’s decision, which calls for the TGNA to hold a referendum.
STATEMENT TO THE TURKISH NATION
Honorable Turkish Nation,
NATO is claiming the lives of our soldiers.
The Atlantic system’s gentlemen say “yes” to NATO.
The same Atlantic voters appear in the funerals of our martyrs.
The Turkish people cannot but abhor this hypocrisy anymore.
Those who say “yes” to Sweden’s access to NATO shall not attend to the funerals of our martyrs!
The black glasses they wear in the funerals cannot hide their callous gaze at the cause that our martyrs have died for.
“APPROVING” NATO IS TREASON TO TÜRKİYE
“Yes” to NATO is “yes” to the Gladio infiltration.
“Yes” to NATO is “yes” to the US coups.
“Yes” to NATO is “yes” to the bullets pointing at our soldiers and police.
“Yes” to NATO is “yes” to the military bases established off the coast of Greece by the USA, which threaten Türkiye.
“Yes” to NATO is giving support to PKK terrorism.
“Yes” to NATO is showing compassion to FETÖ terrorism.
“Yes” to NATO is “yes” to financial bankruptcy.
“Yes” to NATO is an invitation to the US aggression.
“Yes” to NATO is “yes” to the so-called “Kurdistan” plan of the US and Israel.
“Yes” to NATO is betraying our neighbors.
“Yes” to NATO is a dagger stabbed at Palestine.
In summary, “yes” to NATO is betraying Türkiye.

We call out to those who say “yes” to NATO:
Gentlemen, say “yes” to NATO as much as you want, but your NATO is falling apart. As the masters in NATO have admitted, NATO is brain-dead. You will not even be able to attend NATO’s funeral, because you will be buried under NATO’s wreckage!
NO MORE SUBMISSION TO NATO!
Enough with disregarding the will of the Turkish nation and giving in to NATO!
The Turkish people are against NATO!
The Turkish nation does not want a government that bows to NATO.
The Turkish nation does not want a Parliament that bows to NATO.
Türkiye will break the NATO chain in a few years, not many!
Independent and producing Türkiye is very close!
